Being talented is amazing. But being able to inspire others is even better. I hope that I achieved that goal after my PEPA (Pt England Performing Arts) journey, and here it is.

It was around 1:15 when I left to go and get ready for the extravagant show that was yet to come. Running with excitement, I ran into the music room with my friends.

After getting dressed, I was ready to dance for the community and school. " RIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGGGGG!!!", the bell went. It was show time. Sitting down in the music room, my heart was beating twice as fast than usual. We all sat down, anxiously waiting to hear the crowd to walk in to hall.

I suddenly heard the sound of the smoke machine. It sounded like a fire extinguisher though. I heard Tokorima’s voiceover playing in the hall. “BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!............”, a few thunderous stomps frightened us. It was the Kapa Haka performance. It took around 5-7 minutes.

After the Pacific Migration performance, which was followed by our first dance, we starting dancing with nervous excitement. “Yeah, yeah, yeah!”, I was singing to myself while I was dancing.. As the song faded out, I was relieved, yet sad that the first set of dances were over.

After a few more dances and items, it was time for my solo. I was shaking with with fear as I waiting for Chante and Jerome to finish their dance. My violin performance was just one of the biggest events in my life. But although I was nervous, I knew that I had the support from my friends and family. Then NEK MINNIT, my performance was finished!! I remember I made a few mistakes, but I still loved it.

That wasn’t the last performance from me though. I also did a dance sequence from some Tamaki College students, and some modelling.  I am really glad that we have PEPA at Pt England because like Ms Muliaumasealii said, I helps us build our inner confidence and beauty.
