Used for the Olympic Games, the motto for the competition is “Swifter, higher, stronger.” The point of this saying is to try and boost up the athletes confidence for the games that can help them to victory. This is compared to another well-known motto “ The most important thing is not to win, but to take part.”
The flame is lit up by the sun’s rays in Olympia Greece, MONTHS before the games. This is a tradition to remember the ancient Olympics. It is then carried by relay from Greece, all the way to the host city of the competition.
On the opening day of the Olympics, the torch is brought into the stadium. The flame is then transferred from the torch to the cauldron. It is then extinguished on the closing day of the games.
